New York, September 23, 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with H.E. Mr. To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and State President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, on the sidelines of the Summit of the Future at the UN General Assembly.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi congratulated President To Lam on assuming his new role and expressed India’s commitment to further strengthening the bilateral relationship. He also reiterated India’s solidarity with Vietnam in the aftermath of Typhoon Yagi, acknowledging the timely humanitarian assistance provided by India under Operation Sadbhav.

Both leaders reaffirmed the importance of the deep civilizational and cultural ties between India and Vietnam. They discussed ways to enhance cooperation in various sectors, including trade, investment, defense, and security, to elevate the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to new heights. The leaders also exchanged views on regional and global issues, emphasizing the need for a stronger voice for the Global South on the international stage.
