For starters – recruitment and search was never for the faint of heart. Subject to all the vagaries of human nature and the attendant varying choices that individuals make about their careers and jobs – it is a difficult line to be in.
Add to this recruitment in a fast-paced and rapidly evolving city and you end up with a swirl of ideas, dynamics and trends.
I intend to treat this blog like a diary marking some of my thoughts on talent acquisition and retention, professional recruitment practices in the Middle East, compensation trends and career advice for individuals looking for jobs in Dubai (which is a suprisingly large set of people currently, given the economic downtrends in other parts of the world).
Along the way – I hope to also detail some exciting new ideas I am working on – which I believe are relatively new concepts for recruitment/search and related technology in this region of the world.
Since this is my first post, I will add some appetizers about the job market in Dubai,
- Given $140 oil prices – and projects worth $2 Trillion already announced in the Middle East – 56% companies in the region believe that their biggest challenge in the years to come is talent acquisition
- 72% fo the expatriates working in the Middle East will prefer to work in Dubai if provided an opportunity
- 80% of the workforce in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is expatriate
I will make it a point to write the blog drawing on my personal experience to write about events affecting the industry and using data from several reports that we generate as part of my professional work.
